2021
The story of the Fenyves Szabadegyetem began in the summer of 2021 with a simple yet bold idea: to create a space for the youth of Komárom to learn, relax, and find community—all in nature, on the banks of the Danube, in one of the most beautiful settings in the Koppánymonostor region.
In the first year, we started with a budget of a few hundred thousand forints from community funding. The entire event was organized for the leaders of youth organizations from North and South Komárom, for about 20-25 people. That same year, one of our most important traditions began: the discussion between the mayors of the two Komároms, North and South.
2022
This year, the Festival was held in a format similar to its current identity. Our number of participants grew to nearly 100 people. Among the campers, we welcomed youth civil organizations from all corners of the Carpathian Basin. We made our biggest leap this year. We enhanced the pine grove with a tent, a stage, and a banner exhibition. Nearly 300 people enjoyed the evening music programs in the grove.
2023
In 2023, the Fenyves Szabadegyetem focused on hate speech and online bullying. Throughout the week, lectures, workshops, and roundtable discussions helped participants delve into these important social issues. This was also the year the Fenyves Fest was first realized: a huge tent, a party until dawn, and hundreds of young people. The evening was a real breakthrough—nearly 750 people attended, and something new was born. A friendly idea had turned into a true community festival.
2024
In 2024, the event became more spectacular than ever—a true festival atmosphere dominated the campsite. Programs took place in two large tents, featuring not only educational and community events but also inspiring life paths and stories. The number of participants reached the camp's maximum capacity, which was a huge step forward. Our mascot, Tocy, was also born, visually connecting the Fenyves Szabadegyetem and the Fest. The music programs expanded to two days this year: the first day featured emerging talents, and the second day had a real festival vibe with over 1,500 visitors. After much hard work and many challenges, we are diving into the next year with great momentum.
2025
This year, we have again started organizing with great enthusiasm, but what will this year bring? Both the Fenyves Szabadegyetem and the Fest will undergo many changes. Even more exciting discussions, higher-quality professional programs, and a nationwide music lineup. One thing, however, will not change: the unforgettable Fenyves atmosphere awaits you.
